Scary Cat

Today's is my day to post for the Die Cut Diva's. This month we are hoping you are inspired by the mood board we created  for October. Our sponsor is Bugaboo

This is my first card for our challenge, which started with printing 3 of the same image to fit on the front of my card. Once they were printed I used my copics to color the background of the images. I then trimmed the panel rounding two corners and did the same with the pattern paper I matted it on.

For the background I used some distress inks to color the pattern paper so it matched the cat circles. Once it was colored I adhered it to the card base and then popped the smaller panel on using foam adhesive. My word is left overs from a background die that I used last year, glad I saved them they are coming in handy. ;-) After everything was adhered I added some glow to the cats eyes using Nuvo dots.

Party balloons

Poppin' in real quick with a card I made for the CASology 5 year anniversary.

The theme is balloons and they have a blog hop going on to celebrate! It was perfect timing since I needed a birthday card for next week so the theme is perfect! I created this for the blog hop.

I was originally thinking of just coloring the balloons in the back ground in shades of grey so the party balloons popped more, but changed my mind. It is for a little boy and I thought it needed more color. So to help the party balloons stand out more I put some vellum over the colored back ground panel.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Let's Chill

Today's quick post is a card I made and will link up to the CASology and the Lawnscaping challenges.

I decided to use the fun drinks from Hero Arts, stamp them multiple times across my panel and color them in with copics.

I added some washi on the card before attaching the panel and stamped the sentiment. Once everything was on the card I added clear Wink of Stella and glossy accents to the drinks. As a last minute addition I decided to add a little bling to the fruit centers in coordinating colors.

Here is closer look and the sparkle and shine! I love the Wink of Stella for a fast drying hint of shimmer.

Lifesaver

Hello everyone! Just thought I drop in with a quick post. I made this card today with the CASology challenge in mind.

I love nautical themed things! Its the theme of our family room too.

Here is the quick shaker card I made...

Here is a closer look at the tiny beads, glitter and sequins inside...

I stamped my image and colored it with copics. Used a stitched circle die left over from another project for the shaker portion. I did stamp the sentiment after getting the shaker part done. It would've been easier to do it first! ;-)

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!!!

Birthday balloons

Happy Friday everyone! Well it is for me as this is the start of a 3 day weekend for me!!! ;-) I thought I'd stop in with a quick post to share a card I made with two challenges in mind. Even though I'm a little late on getting the card done for the watercolor challenge at Lawnscaping I still wanted to do it. The other challenge is CASology.

Here is what I came up with...

I stamped and watercolored the balloons on watercolor paper. Stamped the sentiment and music notes, then decided to add some color to the notes as well. Found some washi that coordinated with my balloons and adhered all to a card!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

Pink butterfly

A quick thinking of you I made with a few challenges in mind.

and at
CASology

My clean and simple card...

A closeup of the butterfly so you can see the ombre and sparkle!

The card was finished pretty quickly. Starting with the background I used gray ink for a tone on tone background with a stencil. The panel was a scrap paper that I stamped with the butterfly and sentiment, then used a small circle punch to add the decorative corners. On another scrap I stamped and colored the butterfly again with some copics before fussy cutting it. It's glued to the panel by it's body while the wings are attached with foam squares for dimension. One the glue was dry I added clear Wink of Stella over the intire butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Happy Birthday

Today while I was skyping with a friend in NC I made a few cards... instead of just sitting one the computer chatting! Which is was usually happens (at least for me). She tends to get cards made everytime!
I made this card with a specific person in mind, since his birthday is right around the corner. Using a die that I picked up early last year, but have never actually used. I feel so bad when I do that, but usually get around to using it. ;-)

I got a new phone so I'm trying it's camera, it's already looking a little better than my old one. I generally get to lazy or in a hurry to get my real camera out for card photos. Anywho...

I taped off the top and bottom of the card so that I could color my "sky" with distress inks. Then I ran the die through my cuttlebug 3 times and glued the layers together for some dimension on the card. I love this look! I also did the same technique on another card that will be sharing in another post.

I will be adding this card to 2 challenges:

Wise Men

I've been busy working on my Christmas cards, I'm still not done. Hopefully next year I will be more ahead of the game, but that's what I said last year too! ;-) Only time will tell. My cards today were inspired by two different blog challenges and a new Close to My Heart set that I picked up this year.

Both cards are based off of this sketch from Case this Sketch

First card is very simple with some silver tape and embossing powder and the image stamped in purple. I will include this in the CASology challenge blog.

Here is the second card I made, without the tape layer between the card base and panel. I decided to use some distress inks to make a background for my wise men.

Either card would be fairly easy to mass produce. I'm not sure which I like better. I enjoy the colors on the distress background, but like the simplicity of the first.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Merry Monday #134

I'm posting today to share a card I made for the Merry Monday challenge #134.

I saw the challenge image and was ready to get started with my idea in mind! I call our tree the winter wonderland tree, full of blues, whites and silver! Here is what I came up with...

I embossed the ornaments in silver on water color paper. I watercolor them with distress markers. Just for a little more shimmer I used the Perfect Pearls as watercolor for the white areas.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Thankful for you

Hello and happy Friday! Hope this finds everyone getting ready for the weekend. My weekend will be spent at work, so goes the life of working retail! :-)  My card today was inspired by a technique I saw Catherine Pooler do in combination with a sketch and the challenge on Simon Says Stamp.

I have seen CP (Catherine Pooler) recently use a stencil to selectivly add color on a card, where the color is more intense in the middle and fading out to the sides. I thought I'd give it try since I like the look and makes great background for a simple card. I used the sketch from CASE this sketch.

Once I was done with the back ground and added my sentiment, I felt that the card needed a little some thing else. I had some little wooden butterflies that I hadn't used in awhile. I colored one with some orange stickles and will include this on the CASology blog as well.

I used a mini Heidi Swapp stencil with Spiced Marmalade distress. The sentiment is from on of the new Close to my Heart Card Kits and I stamped it using Memento Luxe in Rich Cocoa.

Thanks as always for stopping by! Have a great weekend everyone!

White/silver Snowflake card

My house is really quite tonight with the husband out for the night and the boys visiting the grandparents this week. So I had time to work on a card when I got off of work today! There where a couple of challenges this week that worked for this card so I will link it to the following 3 challenges.

and

Here is my card:

I was having issues with my lighting so unfortunately it isn't the best picture. I used some dies from Memory Box and Simon Says Stamp. The paper is Neena solar white and silver glitter paper from Recollections. I love how the shimmer peeks out through the spaces on the snowflakes.
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time...

Hello card

The card I'm posting now will be good to add to two different challenges. The first one is Simon Says Monday challenge, this weeks theme is I should really use this more. With that in mind I decided to pull out my Perfect Pearls. I don't use them often enough and I love the color and shimmer they leave behind. I used heirloom gold and cappuccino Perfect pearls on the wood grain for the tag.

The other challenge this will work for is CASology, the cue wood on their blog is Wood. So in addition to the wood grain tag, I've also used a wood veneer bicycle that I received in a card kit awhile back. I finished off the card with some pearls and gems scattering out of the basket for fun and called it a day.

Thanks for visiting, Have a great day!
