SEP SID- Raise a glass

Hello all and welcome to September! Fall is on the way and I can't wait. Here is our sketch for September Stick It Down challenge.

I kept pretty true to the sketch this month and fun creating the background with some distress oxide and die cut for interest. I asked a friend of mine what kind of card she wanted for her birthday... she said some with drinks or maybe tropical theme. I decided to blend them and she loved it! The drinks do have some glossy accent on them to make them look more like glass and I love the look of the little beads on the foam. I added them on some vellum before putting them on the card.

Here is a closer look at the details on the beer glasses.

Aug SID- Leafy hello

Hello friends and welcome to August and my card for Stick It Down card sketch. We are changing things a bit if you haven't heard you can read the details on the Stick It Down blog here.  We are not going away just moving a bit. Here is our card sketch this month.

For my card I started with using some Distress Oxides to color a scrap of white cardstock. Then I die cut my leaves and glued them to a layer of white cardstock, before cutting it down a little smaller. I decided I liked the idea of a thin colored layer of cardstock behind the leaf panel, so I used the same ink to match the layer with my leaves. I then added it to a cardbase. I die cut my sentiment out of a scrap of pattern paper left on my "mesk" using an old favorite hello die. Since my background and my hello were both a little busy with colors I layered my hello on some vellum and adhered it to the card.

Now to send this tropical, summery and very Gold Girls like card to someone... "Shady Pines, Ma!"

APR SID- Birthday gifts

Hello and welcome to my post for the April Stick It Down card sketch.

Here is my card for this month. I made a card using some scraps from my desk again. I don't know about you but I tend to hold to way toooo many scraps that I usually don't use, so I'm trying to add them where I can. Since I used a bright and slightly pattern paper for the half of the card panel, I left the other half just white and embossed it to add a little detail. I stamped the image in grey and added some pick to match one of the colors in the pattern paper. The happy birthday in the image is white and I didn't think it stood out enough so I colored it in with a black glitter marker. I also used a clear glitter brush marker over the pink  ribbons and added some bling to finish the card.

Here is a closer look at the glitter markers on the the ribbon and sentiment.

Mar SID- Flying by to say...

Hello and welcome to my post for Stick It Down's March card Sketch.

I decided I wanted to use some scraps from my scrap bin for my card. I found the hot air balloon paper and thought it was a perfect compliment to the Hero Arts set I picked up from a local store recently. I adhered the pattern papers to my card base. Using some Catherin Pooler inks to coordinate I stamped a hot air balloon, clouds and my sentiment to a panel of white cardstock to add as my top layer. Added a few sequins and gems to finish it off.

Using pattern paper helps to make a quick card and I just love the colors together!

FEB SID- Glittery clovers

Hello all and welcome to my card and post for Stick it Downs Feb sketch. I like the repeat pattern on the sketch and it could be used with so many different shapes. I was going to do hearts, but had made something like it that I done a while back and didn't want to repeat it, I'll link them here and here if you are interested.

I decided to pull out a Simon Says Stamp stencil with shamrocks that I got last year. I started by blending some oxide ink on the card panel, then used some glitter gel over it for the sparkle. For the back panel I ran my VersaMark pad across an embossing folder, before running it through my machine with piece of dark green cardstock. Once it was embossed I brushed on some Perfect Pearls in gold. I layered the little panel on more of the dark green card stock before adhering it to the embossed panel. Added them to a card base and called it done.

I couldn't find a sentiment I liked. I even was going to just die cut some letters that said lucky, but I didn't think the fonts I had worked with it... so, I just decided to leave it blank

Hello- JAN SID

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I swear the years are getting shorter! ;-) 2022 seemed to come to an end extra quick this year, but a lot of things seemed to come up so it was as relaxing or enjoyable as it usually is. On to the card, since that's what we are here for! Here the Stick It Down card sketch by the talented Laura Rumble....

For my card with everything going on I decided to keep it pretty simple... but who am I kidding CAS is probably my favorite style of card to make. I started by going through my stash of Washi. My first pick was the thin rainbow with a gold strip, then I just grabbed some that coordinated with it. I placed them down on my card, I did add some liquid glue for the glitter tape since it wasn't wanting to stay down. Die cut the hello form some white cardstock and glued it over the washi.

It's a pretty simple card and a great way to use the washi I have, I don't use it enough and I've collected a lot of it! Below is a closer look at the gold foil as well as the gold glitter washi tapes. I think they are so pretty.

DEC SID- Joy

Hello and welcome to my card for Stick It Downs December card sketch.

I enjoyed this sketch and could be many ways. I started by using a background stamp and heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. To start my stripes I used some painters tape to mask of the white area. Using some Rustic Wilderness distress oxide I colored the bottom corner, then used the same ink to color the greenery on the top corner. For the red berries I colored them with Barn Door and added some red stickles over the larger berries. To create more of the stipes I added some red glitter washi. Added my die cut sentiment and called it done! I'm pleased how it turned out and may need to make another.

NOV SID- Christmas Scotties

Hello and welcome to Novembers Stick it down  card sketch! I don't know about you but I can't believe we are already half way through November, Christmas is right around the corner and I'm not ready! This card will help with my not being ready though. ;-)

For this card I used the Christmas Scotties stamp and punch set from Stampin' up. The paper is also from Stampin' Up, but it's an older paper pack. I stamped the same pup 3 times and stamped the bow twice. I wanted the middle image to have something different on it's neck, so tied some ribbon around like a little scarf.

OCT SID- Gnome I'm here for the candy

Hello all and welcome to my card for the October card sketch for Stick It Down! This is fun sketch and I can see me using it again with dies, stencils and or more pattern papers for other seasons. Also if you've ever thought about being on sketch design team we are having DT call, check out the detials here!

For this months card I started with an image that I had previously watercolored and then found a pattern paper I wanted to use with it. Loved the various words and colors on this pattern paper (Recollections) that has been in my stash for quite a while! I then took some water color paper that had been cut the same size as my card front and tore it to create the design of the sketch and distressed with some black soot. When the paper pieces were adhered to the the card base I use the black soot to distress all the edges and stamped my sentiment.

I then added the gnome with an action wobble so that he is popped up and wobbles for more fun. Reminds me of the old Weeble toys.... you know they wobble but don't fall down. ;-) I added some nuvo drops and a couple of clear adhesive stars that I colored with copics to coordinate to finish the card.

SEPT SID- Witch way is the candy

Hello and welcome to my September Stick It Down sketch post! We have another great sketch from Mandi and I couldn't help making 2 cards with the sketch.

For my first card I went with a Halloween card using MFT's Witch way is the Candy set. I just love how cute she is and the images that come with set. I started by making my candy corn background with layer stencil from Photoplay. Used a rectangle frame die from MFT to create a layered look. Once the layers were on the card base I added some Distress Mica spray to add some splatter and shimmer (love that it does both). I then stamped the images, I almost left her black and white but decided she needed a little more color, so I colored her with only the colors already on the card. I didn't want to add more colors so left some areas black and white.

For card two, much of the process was the same. I used the same rectangle dies, but used a Lawn Fawn stencil and snowflake die to make a Christmas card. Layered everything together and added some shimmer to my die cut snowflake.

Aug SID - Flying by to say hi!

Hello and welcome to August and Stick It Downs card sketch for the month!

I stayed true to the sketch to make a masculine style card for my dad. The sketch was a great way to use up some of my 6x6 paper out of the tons of packs I have! These weren't all from same pack, but they worked well together and it felt good using some by mixing and matching. I stamped and fussy cut out the paper airplanes (Lawn Fawn), adding a little shading with Copics. Then I decided to add some stars to go with the star pattern paper I used as the panel base. So I used Copics to color the stars to match.

July SID- Sunshine and Rainbows

Hello all and welcome to my post for the June card sketch from Stick It Down! It's summer, my kids are out of school and enjoying the break! I'm enjoying not running them around as much for school activities. :-)

I've had this soft rainbow watercolored background on my desk for sometime now and when I saw the sketch this month I thought it would be a perfect background. I die cut a sun using a stitched curve die out of yellow paper and added some distress ink to the deepen the color. Before gluing it down I traced the curve and heat embossed some rays for the sun. I then sprayed some shimmer spray on the panel before adhering it to the glitter panel and card base. Added my sentiment with a border of black cardstock and a little bit of vellum as well with some foam tape for a tad bit of dimension.

JUN SID- hats off to you!

Hello all and welcome to my post for the June card sketch from Stick It Down! I can't believe it is summer time already, and there has already been a couple of days that I wished we had a pool to cool down in!

Loved this sketch for the layered look and thought it would be great to use as a graduation card.... it is that time of year after all and I know a few grads. I kept the card pretty neutral as I wasn't sure of the school colors. I tend to like to use them if I know them, but like the basic black and white too it can be used for anyone!

I stamped the cap in different directions to create my own pattern paper. I did stamp an extra to color and die cut because I thought it would be nice to add a colored one next to the sentiment. Below is a closer look at the hat and the foil cardstock used.

Feb SID - Nuts about you

Hello and welcome to Stick It downs February card sketch! Hope you are inspired by the sketch or one of my fellow design team members and join us!

For my card I didn't stray from the sketch, but did make it a standard A2 size, since I was mailing it to my in laws for Valentine's day. The panel was a watercolor image I had in my stash, that I colored with watercolors and a few metallic watercolors for a little shimmer. I layered the watercolor panel on some brown cardstock for a little pop of brown, before adding it to the card base with some pattern paper. Sprinkled on some sequins and gems to finish it.

Here is another picture so show the metallic watercolor areas a little better.

SID Dec- peppermint kisses

Hello everyone and welcome to the last card sketch for Stick it Down in 2021! I can't believe it's this time of year again, so much has happened and I feel like the year has just flown by. Here is the card December card sketch.

I didn't change anything from the sketch really, but had fun playing with the Frosted Gingerbread bundle from Stampin' up! The dies alone to make your own layered die cute gingerbread cookies and peppermint candies is to stinkin' cute, that's what I did for my decorative elements on my card. I die cut all the elements and added brown ink to my craft star to make it look a little more like gingerbread. Glued on the icing and a little red bling for fun. Peppermints were done the same way, I just love how they turned out!

SID NOV- Happy Thanksgiving

Hello all and welcome to my post for November Stick It Down card sketch! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by and Dec is here next week.
I decided to make my card a Thanksgiving card since the post goes live the week of! I stayed pretty true to the sketch this month, just changing a few minor things to make it for the supplies I pulled out for the card. I finally used some items in my stash for the first time. Which made me happy, since I buy things like but then don't always use them right away. I know I'm not the only one! ;-)

SID Oct- Newlyweds

Hello everyone and welcome to my card for Stick It Down's October sketch!

For my card I did a lot of white on white for a friends wedding. She loves sunflowers and her colors were green and gold. She had actually came over for help decorating envelopes for favors and she really liked the green embossing powder, so I made sure to use it on their card as well. Pretty pleased with how it turned out. Love the texture added with dies and embossing folder!

AUG SID- summertime

Hello all and welcome to my card for Stick It Downs August card Sketch. Aug... wow can't believe we are already over halfway through 2021, I swear the years get shorter and shorter! ;-) Here is a look at our card sketch this month...

For my card I decided to stencil the decor across the background. I wanted to angle it a little more like the sketch, but my stencil (MFT) wasn't wide enough for that. I still like the look of the various distress ink in blues created. I used the summer time die (SSS) for the sentiment and then just added some sequins and stars for sparkle and a little more color.

Edited to add:

A second card I made using the same sketch, this time I used Arteza metallic water colors for the background with a Simon Says Stamp Die cut sentiment for the focal point on the card. Love the shimmer the metallic water color added to the back ground! I will be adding this to the Die Cut Diva's Challenge blog... it's been too long since I've played along with another challenge.

JULY

Hello all and welcome to my post for the Stick It Downs July card Sketch! I think it's a fun sketch and thought it would be a great one to use up some pattern paper! Here's the sketch...

... and here is my card which I used a a couple pattern papers from my stash! I love fall and sometimes can't help but pick up a 6x6 pad of fall papers, so I have a few (even a double or two). I need to use them more and this was a start. I loved being able to use one of the sheets with a scene on it for the main focal point of the card and then accent it with some smaller coordinating patterns.

I stamped my sentiment on some coordinating cardstock. Stamped, colored and die cut the pumpkin and leaf for embellishing. To finish the front I added a little strip of washi tape between the pattern squares, as well as some brown sequins and a few Nuvo dots. Made for a pretty quick card, once I decided what paper to use. ;-)

SID JUNE- Hey Gullfriend

Hello all and welcome to my blog and card for Stick it Downs June challenge! Here is a look at our sketch for the month...

Here is my card that I did while skyping with a friend... which usually when I do that she gets three cards done and I get none finished! LOL. Not this time, this time I was the only one with a completed card! :-) I love the the little seagulls from Hero Arts. I got them last year, then didn't use them. I stamped them and added a little color with some copics, before using a circle punch to pop them up on the card.

Hope to see you over at Stick It Down with your card based on the card sketch or one of our scrapbook layouts! Love to see how you use the sketches. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
