World's Fair Park layout

I'm feeling pretty accomplished in the craft room this weekend. Even though everyone is back in the house (some are exhausted from camping) I'm still getting things done! I'm sharing a layout I did with inspiration from the second  CSI challenge this month. I really liked the color combo and just happen to have the two main pattern papers I used sitting out.  We stopped by the World's Fair Park in Knoxville on our way back to IL form NC during a summer trip. I have a lot of pictures from the trip, but I thought the yellow in the layout would perfect for some pictures of the sphere.

Here is a look at the CSI challenge inspiration image.

I added some 6x6 pattern papers that had the same colors and black cardstock to mat my layers with. Figured out how I wanted my lay out and got started. Since most of my papers only had two of the colors on them , I added a another pattern with 3 colors on it to tie them together a little better. I grouped the patterns together as banners in the top corner and scattered some in other areas as well.

The alpha's I used were actually black and white striped, I thought they looked to busy so I colored them with a black Copic to try and cove the white.

I will use the white space for my journaling about the sphere. There isn't a lot of room for info, but since I have other pictures I'm sure more info will make it to another page eventually. ;-) CSI recently changed the requirements for the challenges so that you don't have to use the clues, but I still like to try. I think I did alright...  I used the colors as well as stipes, dots, test pattern, circles, doily, washi and puffy stickers (alphas).

I'm pleased with the way the page turned out. I sometimes get a little nervous added some pattern paper, as I feel it can get cluttered looking very easily. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A little adventure...(scrapbook layout)

Just a quick post to share a scrapbooking layout I did today. I was inspired by this CSI challenge
and this sketch from last month on Stuck?! Sketches. I didn't get a chance to play along with it during Feb, but still wanted to use it. It's one that I can easily use over and over.

I was inspired by the image to scrap some photos of a little camping trip we took. I wasn't the happiest about going, I hadn't camped in many years and told my husband I want to Glamp! ;-) He just rolled his eyes...

It ended up storming the night we were there, which didn't seem to bother the kids, but I din't sleep well. The morning sky was pretty to see the next morning, you can kind of see it in the picture.

In the close ups you can see the wood grain detail on the cardstock I used. I used some plaid and added some interest with stamps on the borders.

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but I added a tree punched strip in plaid just above the pattern paper. I hadn't used the punch in a long time and thought it would be a good time to use it. I love it when I remember to use older items in my stash!

counterfeit kit- je t'aime

Here is my project for the challenge over at CKC Love of Paris. To go along with the theme I was inspired to use my Joy Clair Love Languages stamp.
No automatic alt text available.
I used je t'aime which is French for I love you and picture of me and my husband at a friends wedding.

A few close ups at the details and embellishments...

Hope you join us at the blog or on facebook and play along with the challenge with your kits for Feb!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Let's Get Sketchy NOV 1st

Today I'm popping in with a scrapbook layout I made with using the Nov 1st sketch from Let's Get Sketchy

I decided to do a mini layout (8x8), to go in my display frame. I needed to scrap the annual photo booth picture I take with my boys.  It's getting so cramped in that small space for the 4 of us, but I plan to keep this tradition going as long as I can. Even if we pop our heads in from both sides! ;-)

Day 1 of Jr. High

I finally got time to sit down and make layout using my kit inspired from this months Counterfeit Kit. This may be the only one I get done... before the challenge ends at least. I also use this sketch for Stuck?! Sketches...

You can see my kit here. The lighting wasn't great so my paper looks a little pinker than it really is. I didn't want to add to many embellishments on my boys page, maybe I'll get over that and add what ever I want... Until then the embellies are a little light on the page. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Photo Fun

I'm here today with a layout I did this morning using the Stuck?! Sketches first sketch for September.

My layout is 8x8 to fit in a hanging display I got from Michael's a few years ago. It's a perfect size layout for the photo booth pictures my boys and I do in the summer (especially with the new way the pictures print), this is a tradition we started the summer after my youngest was born. He was 4 months old in the first one and this one is from 2 summers ago. I'm getting caught up!

I used some scraps of paper to create the back drop, I figured this was a perfect sketch to use them for. Since my strips were bright and colorful, I felt my picture go a little lost, so I layered it with two pieces of vellum. Since this is a smaller layout and the paper was so colorful I didn't want to over crowd the layout with a lot of embellisments.

I thought the gray cardstock background looked a little plain, so I added a little interest to it. I stamped some splatter for a tone on tone look, but didn't think that was enough and added some black Heidi Swapp shine spray. Once the spray was dry I stamped the date in gray and added a little journaling in silver.

There is a little more journaling on the tag behind the picture mat. Used two different letter stickers to make my title.

Me and My boys!- scrapbook layout

I'm popping in with a scrappy post that is a combo of using more of my August Counterfeit Kit

and a sketch form Stuck?! Sketches.

My finished layout uses a picture of me and my boys taken on my youngest's 8th birthday. He wanted to go to the Childrens Musuem in Indy, to see the Dinosaurs. He had a great time, so did his brothers even though they are starting to get  a little old for the place!

I saw a lot of beautiful die cuts on the DT inspiration, but didn't know what I wanted to use for the diagonal. I didn't want it to be to frilly since it's my boys, so I used the Air Vent die (retired) from Simon Says Stamp ( It's been awhile since I used it).

The yellow background paper had arrows on it and I wanted to carry on the theme with the border strip. Luckily my kit had coordinating arrow stickers that I stuck down to point towards the picture.

I loved the alpha that was part of the same sticker sheet the arrows were on and used them for my title. It helped to bring the rest of he colors to my mono-toned yellow background.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

CKC- 2nd challenge

Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Today I'm popping up with a scrapbook layout for my guest DT spot for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge. This time around we were challenged to scraplift one of our own previous layouts. I didn't have a lot to chose from being that I've been slacking in my scrapping time. I ended up choosing a page I did last year, that I'd attempted a little mixed media!

I wasn't totally happy with the way it turned out, but like the basic sketch of the page. So that is why I picked it for the challenge. I did make a few changes... like the pattern paper border is bigger and my strip goes across the the full 12 inches!

Since the pattern paper shows more I decided to keep my embellies smaller, I'm finding that I don't like to make a page look super busy! I'm still working on finding my style... until then I'll just keep trying new things and playing with my goodies!

I stamped the ink spots in a navy ink and sprayed some Heidi Swapp color shine to add a little shimmer. Added a few orange enamel dots to the ink clusters for a splash of another color. Below you can see part of the tag I used for my journaling.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day!

CKC - challenge #1 phrase stickers

Counterfeit Kit Challenge

This post is my reveal for the Counterfeit Kit Challege this month. We were to use phrase stickers on out layouts. I know I have a few and don't always use them on pages and should really use them more. On today's layout I used them on a tag for my journaling, even cut a few to make the words needed for it.

I used this sketch from Stuck?! Sketches for a little more inspiration and will link this up to their challenge!

I love the phrase stickers from Tim Holtz, made it easy to make a journal tag with what I wanted it to say.

I'm also loving the clear alpha, I bought them on sale probably about 2 years ago and have never used them! I'm really happy how the page turned out, it was even husband and kid approved!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Love this moment

I've been spending a little more time in my craft room working on some projects other than cards. I do enjoy making them, but it's nice to start playing catch up on my scrapbooking (which is way behind)! I think I owe some of the new found inspiration to Counterfeit Kit Challenge

I will be linking this page to challenge as it's the third page I've made using my kit. I don't show everything I pulled for the kit, I didn't have a whole lot of room, but my papers are the core of my kit. They are what I will be trying to base my pages off of.

The layout is about my son and how he wanted to take his tiger (he got it from the Childrens hospital) for show-n-tell. I was the mean mom and said no. He would have been heart broken if something happened to it. We comprimised on a mini photo shoot so that he could show the pictures of his special tiger.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it so much! Have a blessed day!

Super

I'm here with my second post today, I'm getting a few crafty things done and playing along with challenges. (Which I haven't been do much of lately) What else is a girl to do when she is practically confined to the craft room... I mean it is currently the most comfortable room in the house.

I'm sharing a post I made for the CSI challenge. It is very super hero related and with three boys in the house it's a prefect theme for me. ;-) I love how they set the theme up in case files and the options they give to use on a layout.

Besides using the sketch and colors, I have four evidence and 2 testimony options on my page.

Evidence: Speech bubbles, starts, stripes and twine
Testimony: Super (inspration word) and Speech bubble journaling

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
